My first and only time at Cracker Barrel sometime last year, I had something like biscuits and gravy with a side of burger.

You should eat it more, you just have to go on Sundays when they are really busy. The rest o f the patrons usually make it pretty easy for me to remember to limit my trips there. Also only get their breakfast food or macaroni and cheese.

If you ever visit America it’s a mandatory meal.

Their thing is "delicious southern food" so basically everything is horribly fattening and cover in sugar. It really is horrible health wise but so so good.

It’s amazing and terrible at the same time. They don’t mind adults ordering off the kids menu. I’ve seen lots of full grown adults order chocolate milk.

Kinja'd!!!

okay i pulled that number out of me arse..... but over here its not strange for adults to order chocolate milk (with whipped cream and marshmallows)

I typically get the breakfast sampler when we go, but the cornmeal breaded fried catfish is good. Plus, if I order that I can get greens, fried okra, and hash brown casserole on the side.

Finally someone has given me a reason to visit Amsterdam! (I don’t drink or smoke week, so I’ll settle for Chocomel).

You can substitute any sides with any meal. Mrs. Blackcar usually gets the Old Timer breakfast with 2 hash brown casserole’s and Mac and Cheese, instead of whatever it comes with.

You can get fried okra and pancakes if you’re feeling crazy.

Oh I know, but even to me pecan pancakes with a side of turnip greens with vinegar sounds terrible.

Cracker Barrel was always my go-to for takeout if I was staying in a hotel on the road. I swear they give you like 6 biscuits/cornbread pieces for a single meal...much better than stale hotel cereal and yogurt for breakfast the next morning.

When we used to road trip from WA to IL our first night stop was always Missoula, Montana which is the furthest west Cracker Barrell in the US. We would get dinner and breakfast, driving long distances with a belly full of Cracker Barrell is pretty high up on the hardest things I have done in my life list.

I believe they are now in Portland and that there’s one in CDA. I used to make a pilgrimage to one in Yuma from San Diego for a former girlfriend that was obsessed with it (also further west than Missoula), even though I dislike the place. They didn’t open one in CA until sometime fairly recently.

Love cracker barrel. I had a breakfast date at a similar joint this morning at 10 and I’m pretty sure I ate around 1200 calories of breakfast food. Worth it.

That looks amazing. I realize it is just a really well done package, but I now have a desire to drink ALL the Chocomel.

The Chicken N Dumplins. It’s so delicious and makes me feel like I swallowed a bag full of unmixed cement.

Yes, they have amazing Cornbread. I wonder how Cracker Barrel would do in Hawaii?

Hawaii is pretty high on my “ go there” list.

With all the macaroni salad and unhealthy down home cooking that goes on in Hawaii I would think locals would love it. Hawaii is pretty much no ka oi (#1) for diabetes and gout .  Well I would say visit Kauai or the Big Island if you just wanted a vacation, Oahu and Maui are busier.

We used to go this place when we lived in WA. I was told by quite a few friends that had lived in Hawaii that it was pretty authentic. Their macaroni salad was amazing.

I really want to go to the planeta rium, so everything would be planned around that.

Oh L&L is local, I know there is one neat SF too, it should be authentic. Other local delicacies are courtesy of the military, all the Spam and vienna sausage stuff is likely a result of tons of rations being left over after WWII. We even have a Spam truck on Oahu, like the Oscar Meyer truck! It’s insane, then the local Japanese made Spam musubi, which my wife who is from Japan couldn’t identify haha,

My wife is Korean and Japanese and grew up in Korea they have similar thing. With spam, also because of the war. If you are ever feeling froggy make some Korean army stew. It's spam, noodles, Kim chi and a bunch of other stuff, it's super good. I used to get the spam musubi at L&L it was good.
